i just spoiled myself for the miserable mill because “flacutono” is an anagram of “count olaf”
natashahyatts SAID: favorite book & movie!
ok maybe i’ll just pick the basic eight as favourite book because.
i’m bad at films, i think you should know that. i loved the hobbit, like, a lot, and i’ll be holding it in fond memory eternally bc it got me back into lotr.
Anonymous SAID: book
that’s pretty harsh since i read the secret history (which seems terribly far away already), the blind assassin, the bloody chamber, arcadia, this lullaby, deathless, the disreputable history of frankie landau-banks, talulla rising, i capture the castle and the basic eight all this year. actually, when i look at all of the books that i read this year, it’s too difficult to decide.
eponinejondrettes SAID: i read the first book of curse workers about three years ago. should i continue with the rest of the series? what makes it good?
hmm if you didn’t like the first book enough to continue the series idk how to sell it but 1. mobsters + noir 2. cassel sharpe may or may not be the best con artist alive 3. lila zacharov exists 4. delightful makeouts 5. the relationship between cassel and barron is… well… gut-wrenching 6. really well-constructed magic + ~society stuff~ 7. generally barron sharpe
and it just. gets. better.
so yes do continue you’re missing something if you don’t! :)

By eight in the evening, Phillip realized that one of two things had happened to his wife. She had either perished in a carriage accident, or she had left him. Neither prospect was terribly appealing.
behold the worst husband, sir simon crane
“And you sound like the heroine of a very poorly written novel”, he replied.
i wouldn’t have guessed…
Someday soon he’d smile at her, one of those sideways, crooked sorts of smiles, and she’d find herself clutching on to the furniture, just to keep herself from melting into a pathetic pool on the floor.
